Privacy at CavSwap
CavSwap is a small, trust-first community. This page explains, in plain language, what information we collect, what we never do with it, and how you can control it.
What we collect
- Account info you give us: your name, email, and neighborhood.
- Dog care info you enter: your Cavalier's profile, health notes, and photos, so a sitter can care for them well.
- Application evidence you share when applying: a photo or two of your Cavalier and, if you choose, a social handle, reviewed only by our two founders to keep the community real, never shown to other members or used for anything else.
- Review records: our founders' short private notes and the decision on your application.
- Consent-gated analytics (PostHog and Google Analytics), and only if you say yes; see below.
What we never do
- We never sell or share your personal information with data brokers or advertisers.
- We never run ads on CavSwap.
- We never process payments between members; swaps are free, always.
- Your exact home address never leaves our servers; hosts and sitters only ever see an approximate area until a swap is confirmed.
Analytics (only with your yes)
We use PostHog and Google Analytics to understand what's working on CavSwap and what isn't. Neither loads unless you say yes: on the banner when you first visit, or any time from the analytics toggle in your account settings. Say no, and they simply never run.
Your data
Want a copy of your data, or want it deleted? Email hello@cavswap.com and we'll take care of it. Application photos are kept only while your application is on file, and the same email deletes them on request too.
Your California privacy rights
If you're a California resident, the CCPA gives you the right to know what personal information we collect, to request its deletion, and to opt out of any sale or sharing of it. As stated above, CavSwap never sells or shares your personal information; there is nothing to opt out of on that front, but you still have full control over analytics.
Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information
You can exercise your analytics choice at any time, three ways:
- Decline the privacy banner the first time you visit.
- Flip the analytics toggle off any time in your account's Privacy & data settings.
